David R CozensMr David Cozens is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon with recognition as such by all of the major medical insurers. Mr Cozens is a BUPA Consultant Partner and a preferred provider by most of the medical insurers.

Mr Cozens trained at the London Foot Hospital and qualified with a distinction in surgery. He gained Surgical Fellowship of the Podiatry association (FPodA) and is a Fellow of The College of Podiatric Surgery, The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (FCPodS).

Mr Cozens was successful in national selection for a full-time substantive NHS post as a consultant podiatric surgeon in 1999; he has had extensive surgical experience in both the NHS and the private sector.

A podiatric surgeon is to feet very much as a dentist is to the teeth: a non-medically qualified specialist in the treatment, by both surgical and non-surgical methods, of all problems of 'the foot and ankle and all associated structures'.

Mr Cozens has written papers and presented to learned societies over the years. He has presented on The Biomechanical Management of Chronic Foot Pathology as part of the annual Primary Care event at the NEC, Birmingham. He is a keen contributor to the media on foot surgery and foot-related matters. He is an active presenter of the Spire 'Lunch and Learn' CPD programme for GPs and regularly lectures to medical professional groups on the treatment of foot pain. He is available to make PowerPoint presentations and talks to all interested parties.

Mr Cozens’s research interests also include the clinical biomechanics and the surgical correction of adult acquired flat foot deformity and hypermobility disorders. His other areas of special interest are in the treatment of chronic heel pain and the surgical correction of forefoot deformities.

In addition to gaining his full-time substantive NHS consultant post, he has had 10 years' specialist experience in diabetic, paediatric and rheumatology clinics in the NHS and had over 20 years experience in sports medicine and biomechanics in a very busy private practice in the centre of Reading.

From 2010 to November 2015, Mr Cozens consulted within the Advanced Footcare Group. However, Mr Cozens is no longer associated with the Advanced Footcare Group nor does he have any link with any of the group's activities.

Mr Cozens continues to operate at the Cobham Day Surgery, but has no association with Mr Grahame C Mann or the Advanced Footcare Group.

Mr Cozens also regularly operates with other consultant colleagues to maintain the broadest and most up-to date scope of practice. He is available at multiple centres for private work for all self pay and insured patients.
